Creating a Debug File in a Client/Server Environment

If a complex and reproduceable error arises in a Client/Server environment which is then to be examined by Surecomp DOS, a so-called Debug file needs to be created and sent to DOS.

This Debug file lists each single step executed in the program including details of the data used. The Debug data is stored in the application logs (td2s_*.log) in the tmp-directory.

To create such a file, run the transaction in the usual way until shortly before the error occurs. Then the Debug function is to be activated via the 'Debug Settings' in the context menu.

Usually the switches 'Application', 'Rules', 'User Rules', 'Builtin', and 'Basexec' are set here. In some cases it might make sense to use other combinations to analyze special error situations.

The switches can be activated/deactivated via the 'Default Debug Settings' in the context menu.

Subsequently, the program is to be used as normal until the error occurs and is visible. Then deactivate the Debug switches to avoid the application running sluggishly.

The Debug file created this way can be transferred to the PC using SYSIXF ('Own Server Logfile') and sent by Email to Surecomp DOS, once the transaction is finished.
