Handling Patch Installation

Transaction SYSPIP

This tool is used to install product patches.

By clicking the button [Retrieve] the patch is transferred from the client or any other computer to the patch directory. This is the directory of the main environment for all patches (also overlay and workenvironment patches). Patches that have not been unzipped are at the top of the patch list under 'Selected Patch'.

The content of the ZIP file of the selected patch can be displayed by clicking the [View ZIP] button. The ZIP file of the selected patch is unzipped to the patch directory via [UNZIP].

By clicking the button [Apply] the patch is installed in the path specified under 'Target for Patch'. [Apply log] shows a log file with details of the selected path. The target directory is made up of from the first three letters of the patch name and the TDVCS information of the target system. If an error occurs during the patch installation (e.g. in case of missing writing permission), SYSPIP will automatically continue with the patch installation on the next start.

Information about the available patch can be shown by clicking [Log] and special information about the patch can be retrieved via the [Readme] button.

An installation log and a list of all installation processes can be displayed by clicking the [History] button. SYSPIP creates a line here for each action.

The actions of this transaction are displayed in a log file by clicking the [View Log] button.

If running in batch mode errorcode 1 is returned in case of errors.

For installation of Trade2-patches the script SYSPIP has to be used.
