The user can reserve reference numbers for future contracts via the Pre-Advice- / Pre-Open transactions.

If the checkbox “Reserved Contract” is checked, a reference number reservation is concerned. In case the checkbox is unchecked, a real contract is at hand.

Using a reference number reservation enables the user to provide a reference number for the customer quickly. The customer can already be informed about the reference number by telephone, even if there is almost no information available about the upcoming contract.

In practice, before a contract is concluded, customers often inquire by telephone, whether the bank is willing to conclude the contract. The bank clerk wants to take some notes. In case the clerk can agree on the contract immediately, he can already inform the customer about the future reference number.

The real order will be be received at a later date via a TCO or SWIFT message, which already includes the reference number.
