General Information

Countries first need to be defined before they can be assigned to parties. Once this has been done, business transactions can be processed and fee conditions for the country can be assigned, etc.

The country code is identical to the two-character ISO code. The newly-added country must be described in the language in which the application was installed, at least. However, we would recommend entering the country in all available languages since this description is used whenever the address is printed. For instance, if correspondence is compiled in French, the French spelling of the country is used.

As part of the country definition, addresses can be prepared for both national and international spellings.

Countries can also be allocated to Regions to create certain groups of countries. It is also possible to assign infotexts and stoptexts to specific countries.

The definition of regions eases the pooling of countries which belong to a group such as the countries of the European Union. The code (2 digits) for the region can be choosen freely. As a minimum, the new country has to be described in the language in which the application was implemented. Specific fee conditions can be allocated to such regions and it is possible to create specific regional reports. A pre-condition to associating a specific country to a region is that the respective region is stored in the database and is available in the system. Accordingly, a country can only be allocated to one region.
