Maintaining Text Modules

Transaction DBITXM

This transaction is used to maintain text modules.

Text modules are predefined text elements that can be used in many different text fields in many transactions. This transaction is used to search and to display text modules that are already available.

The text modules are selected either by first selecting a group using the combobox “Group” (the group name of text modules - several text modules can be assigned to one group) or by entering a module ID in the enabled field to the right. A full list of available IDs can be displayed by entering a question mark ('?') in this field and pressing “Enter”. Text modules can also be searched and selected by clicking the Info button [i]. This opens the Info system transaction “Info Text Module” (INFTXM).

Further information on the structure of text module ID and module ID can be found under “Example of a Text Module ID” or “Example of a Module ID” in the documentation on the Info system transaction “Info Text Module” (INFTXM).

Once a text module has been selected, its complete content is displayed in the “Text Module” panel.

The user language in which a text module is defined is selected using the “Language” combobox. This combobox can be used to search exclusively for German or English text modules, for example. For this purpose, the combobox “Group” needs to be empty.

The following transactions can be started from here by clicking the icons in the list below:

text module(s).

General Information can be found under preceding link.

The following actions need to be taken prior to creating a completely new text module. Groups are stored internally. Initially, a new group has to be added (by adding a record in codetable “TXMTXT - Text Module”) to table TXMTXT (which contains the parent groups for the text modules) by using the “Maintain Codetables” (SYSTBL) transaction. The new group is only now available under the combobox “Group”.

Now the group and the desired language have to be selected. Then, a module ID, as descriptive as possible and is not exceeding 8 digits, needs to be defined (e.g. DETFOL for 'Details to follow')

This example can now be selected from the field “Narrative” in the “Common Messages” transaction using the icon .
