Interactive Launch of Selected Job

Transaction JOBEXE

Basic Information

This transaction displays all the the jobs that have been defined using the “Maintaining Jobs” (DBIJOB) transaction. Once a job has been selected from the list, it can be started immediately by clicking .

The list of jobs displayed can be refined using the selection fields.

  • In “Code”, the search can be refined by entering part of the key.
  • In “Description” the search can be refined by entering part of the description
  • In “Type”, the user can select between 'Executable or Script' and 'Transaction'.
If 'Executable or Script' has been selected, only those jobs are displayed that, if started, would start an executable file or script.
If 'Transaction' has been selected, only those jobs are displayed that, if started, would start a transaction. In the “Transaction” field that then opens, the list can be refined still further by entering the name of the transaction.
  • In “Last Status”, the results can be refined by the status of the job, for example: 'Never started', Ended with error', etc.
  • In “Repetition”, the user can select from various types of repitition, e.g. 'Every working day', 'Half-yearly', etc.
Initially, jobs are defaulted that are intended to be run manually (entry: 'Manual execution').
  • The “Execute job directly” checkbox controls whether the selected job is to be executed or not. If the box is checked, the job will be executed directly. If not checked, the transaction that is part of the job is just initially loaded. The user then has the option of changing any settings to the transaction, if required.

The icon executes the job selected from the list.

The icon toggles to the “Job” panel and displays the details of the job selected from the list.

N.B.: If another entry besides 'Manual execution' is entered in the “Repetition” field, jobs are displayed that are normally executed fully automatically by JOBTSK. With manual executions, the date planned fo the next (automatic) execution is NOT changed.
