Pre-Creating a Guarantee/Standby
Transaction GITPOP
The pre-opening of a 'Draft' undertaking applies to
- direct (ISSU) and
- indirect (ISCO, ICCO) guarantees.
The pre-opening of a 'Pre-advice' applies to
- 'Guarantee Received'
- 'Advise Guarantee With Confirmation' (ACNF)
- 'Advise Guarantee Without Confirmation' (ADVI).
If the checkbox “Create Declaration of Indemnity” on panel “Overview” has been checked and no Declaration of Indemnity had been requested so far, the panel “Declaration of Indemnity” will also be displayed. On this panel the text of the Declaration of Indemnity to be sent can be entered. The message can only be sent as letter or fax, as the document has to be signed and sent back by the customer.
The Background of Pre-Opening a Draft
Now and again, clients may well wish to obtain a draft of a guarantee text, which could then be used for discussion with a counterparty during contractual negotiations. Usually banks will assist in such matters and accordingly 'pre-opening' is supported by the application. Pre-opening includes the assignment of a reference number, creating common messages as well as the settlement of charges, etc. The pre-opening of a draft is not to be considered as a real opening of a guarantee, but if a request to establish the guarantee is received, all data entries made during pre-opening are available for creating the final guarantee. These data can of course be updated as necessary.
If the creation of a draft includes an liability for the bank, i.e. if besides the draft of the guarantee a declaration of readiness has been issued, instead of 'Draft' the “type of request” 'Declaration of Readiness' has to be chosen which is available for direct (ISSU) and indirect (ISCO, ICCO) undertaking only. Accordingly, the booking of liabilities is implemented into the transaction.
The Background for Pre-Advising a Guarantee
If the final guarantee is sent via mail, the issuing bank for the undertaking could send a so-called 'pre-advice'. The implied pre-advice contains some brief information about the final undertaking. Such a pre-advice is normally only used for information purposes, but could include an instruction for the advising bank to add their confirmation to the final undertaking. Accordingly, when receiving the undertaking the advising bank usually expresses their readiness to confirm the undertaking or the bank rejects it, after receipt.
After receiving the confirmation, all data used in the pre-advice can be used and updated when advising the final undertaking.
Reserving Reference Numbers
If the checkbox “Reserved Contract” is checked, a reference number reservation is concerned. In case the checkbox is unchecked, a real contract is at hand. Detailed Information about this you find in “Reserving Single Reference Number”.
Requirements
This transaction creates a new Guarantee contract.
If an existing Guarantee contract is used, it may not be open or closed.

| Total Additional Amount (Seq.C) | This field contains total additional amount related to the undertaking (such as Tolerance and/or any other charges related to the undertaking) which must be taken into account additionally to the guarantee amount. This field is mandatory if the “Supplentary Information” field is filled. The amount will be defaulted if the “Positive Tolerance” is entered, if not the user must manually update the amount.
